Integral approach necessary for success digital transformation

Because we have a new interest and knowledge around sustainability doesn’t say we leave our past for what it is. We still have a great network of people who can still help companies in this fast changing market.

Companies that want to survive in this hectic market will need to be able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. It’s all about flexibility and agility, about working together in networks. ICT plays a crucial role in shaping that flexibility and new partnerships. This requires a digital strategy and digital transformation in every organization. Qhuba can guide you through a Digital Strategy Execution.

The transformation to a digital organization has many different components that are closely interrelated. A digital strategy affects all layers of the organization and all parts: the business model, the processes, the ICT systems, the project and program management, data management, the employees. Only if all these parts are connected in the right way will a company really be able to reap the benefits of Digital Strategy Execution.

Qhuba’s digital transformation approach

To make the connection between all the different parts of the digital transformation clear, we have introduced the SCOPE approach , an acronym for Strategy – Context – Organization – Planning – Execution. Broadly speaking, this approach boils down to what IT people know as Plan – Build – Run, with the main difference being that our method pays more attention to the coherence between the various components, stakeholders and influences. Digitization with the aim of a more efficient company, data-driven decisions and a future-proof business model requires an integrated vision.

That is why it is important to continuously consider all steps in the digital transformation from four perspectives:

  1. The CEO is responsible for strategy, and will realize that opportunities and threats arise that necessitate adjustments to the business model and operating model.
  2. The CFO and COO will have to organize their processes differently and have a responsibility for digital process optimization, using lean principles.
  3. The agenda of the CIO or CTO is largely determined by the needs of the other executives, but he or she will also largely co-shape or even initiate these needs. We call this business technology management. We have also seen a new position emerge recently, that of CDO: Chief Digital Officers and Chief Data Officers. These work side by side with, or take the role of the CIO or CTO.
  4. Last but not least, there is the interaction with the customers, also known as the customer journey . This is the domain of the CCO and CMO and typically an area where new technology plays a crucial role. The Data Officer can provide the necessary data to create a customer journey map.

Result of a digital strategy

Those who approach the digital transformation from an integrated vision of the end-to-end processes will be able to formulate better objectives and set priorities. This translates into a more effective approach on all fronts, from the development of a business model, business processes and IT strategy to the implementation of the enterprise architecture, applications, infrastructure, data management and governance.

Fail, but do it smartly.  "Embracing Failure", and "The Learning Organisation" are currently the clichés of the business world. The Harvard Business Review, the NYT and The Economist have written extensively about it, and there are shelves full of...
